Making the Grade
Ricky L. Coston Jr. is a proud graduate of The College of William and Mary. He is a Nationally Certified Counselor who has worked with students at the elementary, middle, and high school levels. Ricky is a member of both the Virginia School Counselor Association as well as the American School Counselor Association. As a young black man, Ricky received much advice that has influenced his life in many ways. Now, he has a strong desire to positively influence as many students as possible. This book is for those teenagers and young adults who may not be able to visit Mr. Coston in his office. Through this book, Ricky provides guidance and reflections on topics such as setting goals, loving yourself, and respecting others.

Ricky L. Coston Jr. was born on July 4, 1990. He was raised in Dunnsville, Virginia. Ricky attended the Essex County Public Schools system in Tappahannock, Virginia. After graduating The College of William and Mary in Williamsburg, Virginia with his B.A. in Psychology and Philosophy as well as his M.Ed in School Counseling, Ricky began working as a Professional School Counselor for Manassas Park City Schools in Manassas Park, Virginia. Ricky is a Nationally Certified Counselor and is a member of both the Virginia School Counselor Association and the American School Counselor Association. Ricky’s counseling practice at the elementary school level is grounded in both the Person-Centered and Solution Focused counseling theories. Ricky is also a martial artists, actor, coach, mentor, and a deacon with a strong faith in the Baptist religion. As a young black man, Ricky was heavily influenced by his family and friends. He has many dreams and goals to help change the world one student at a time.
